This course explores the complexities and dynamics of shaping effective science-policy-society interfaces to drive sustainability transformations. Students will gain a foundational understanding of the instruments and processes involved in crafting sustainability policies, while examining the interactions between scientists, policymakers, and societal actors in addressing pressing sustainability challenges. With a focus on inclusivity and collaboration, the course introduces key approaches to engaging diverse stakeholders in evidence-based discussions and participatory decision-making processes. As part of this, students will get a first glimpse into the field of scientific communication, learn about the requirements and basic formats for presenting scientific findings to non-expert audiences. Note regarding the time slot: The lecture will only last 2 hours and normally start at 14:15. However, depending on the availability of guest speakers, some lecture might take place from 15:15 to 17:00.
